BRYLIN CONFIRMS KHL DEAL
By MARK EVERSON
Sergei Brylin is less than thrilled at the way he's leaving the DevilsNew Jersey Devils . The 13-year Devil confirmed yesterday he's planning to sign a lucrative three-year deal with St. Petersburg of Russia's burgeoning Kontinental Hockey League. Brylin and the Devils passed on each's option for a $1.53 million contract for the coming season. The 33-year-old forward wanted a longer-term deal, and the Devils are looking to inject youth, so Brylin asked the Devils not to pick up the year. "They made me a better offer than I got anywhere in the NHL," Brylin told The Post yesterday. "It was pretty clear to me that I wasn't in the [New Jersey's] future plans. If I'd extended my contract for one more year and played the same amount as I did last year, it was going to be tough getting a new contract. "So I made this decision before it was too late."
